The world shifted on its axis yesterday when singer and mother of one Beyoncé Knowles sent her first tweet, despite having registered the account three years ago and having a following of over 3.5 million.

“Hey World, It’s B! I’m so excited to invite you to my new http://beyonce.com – we’ve been working hard, and it’s finally ready for you XO” she tweeted.

Fans who visited her new official website quickly replied with messages that the web page’s logo was mistakenly upside down and back to front.

The star currently follows Destiny’s Child band mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, Mariah Carey and Usher among others.

Beyoncé also launched her own personal Tumblr page, which includes personal photographs and video clips.

It was recently reported that Adele is keen to collaborate with the Beyoncé who she called “one of my ultimate favourites”.
